Google Adsense eCPM?

I’ve been noticing the eCPM of my Google Adsense account going up and down in drastic amounts. I’m not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing. From my understanding, this would be a good thing, meaning that are more people advertising than there were before. But there are still a lot of other factors involved with the eCPM for each web site, traffic, click count and so on, just to name a few.

I’ve ran Adsense on plenty of my other web sites for years at a time and I have never seen the fluctuation as I’ve seen the past week. If anyone has any comments on the matter or would like to add their two cents, please post a comment to this post. I’d love to hear more about what this could be from, so maybe I can keep it that high.

Twitter Apps = Bad – Why you should be careful what apps you use!

So the other day I decided to pop on our company Twitter account and check out a few things. I was shocked to receive the following message.

So I decided to do a little digging as to why our account was suspended. Go to the link graciously provided by the nice dialog above, I was able to asertain the following.

NO NO’s on Twitter

  • Do not use automated applications
  • If you use automated applications, pay close attention to your quote per hour and per day (Currently I don’t have hard numbers on this, but I’m pretty sure that your follow and un-follow’s can’t exceed 1,000 a day, used to be 2,000)
  • Do not do anything in mass (Twitter Karma)
  • If you do things in mass, keep it realistic (Don’t remove 2,000 people at once that aren’t following you back…)

Needless to say we’ve submitted an inquery to try and resolve this. Hopefully we’ll just get a slap on the wrist and will be able to utilize our account again. I feel kind of ignorant, needless to say Twitter’s rules are pretty simple and aren’t very long to read through. Guess I should have done so before I started using 3rd party applications to manage my Twitter account.

I’ll keep everyone posted as to the outcome of our company Twitter account. Again, if Twitter’s watching we really want to keep our account.

Social Networking Marketing?

So I’ve been reading up on a new type of marketing, whereas one utilizes social networking outlets to blast anything out there to the masses. We’ve all heard of Twitter, Facebook, Myspace and so on. But did you know that they are a huge untapped market, ready to be “cough” tapped.

After reading up on doing this type of marketing, the first thing that popped into my head was, this is going to take a really long time to do. Why would I want to input the same thing over and over again on all these web sites. There is a really good reason for doing it, either by hand or automated. Yes I said automated, it can be done and it isn’t “blackhat” either. Check out the bottom of this post, you see the button that says “Bookmark & Share”? Mouse over that button and see what it does. I know, you’re saying “But Mike, this is for us to bookmark you, not the other way around.”.

YOU’RE WRONG! Ok, now that I’ve got that out. That is incorrect, in order to get that button through OnlyWire’s web site you must sign-up for an account and in doing so, you gain access to their really cool online tool that allows you to post your stories, bookmarks and anything else you want to plaster across your social networking accounts for all to see. Granted this isn’t 100% automated, it still has some glitches and you still must go to most of the sites and input a small amount of information, namely captchas. But come on people, this cuts your posting time on all of these sites from a few hours down to around 15 minutes once you get used to it. There is also a Firefox plugin that allows you to do the same postings, but within your browser, btw I use Flock and it works with it as well.
